Reading tracker templates start empty: you type every book by hand. Your Goodreads or StoryGraph export already has them, with dates, ratings and pages, so the faster route is a tracker filled from the file.

Do it by hand
- Export the library (steps) and open goodreads_library_export.csv in your spreadsheet.
- Turn Date Read into a real date column (it is text like 2025/03/14).
- Add Year = YEAR(date) and Month = MONTH(date) next to it.
- On a new sheet, a grid of years by months with COUNTIFS(Year, year, Month, month) for books and SUMIFS(Number of Pages, Year, year, Month, month) for pages.
- Filter out to-read and currently-reading rows from anything that should count finished books.

A re-read is its own row, marked in the Re-read column, so the monthly counts match the free stats page. The preview on the Pro page shows the first rows and the monthly summary of your own file before you pay; checkout is being connected.
Frequently asked questions
- Is there a free way?
- Yes: open the CSV in Excel or Google Sheets and build the formulas yourself. Add Year and Month columns with YEAR() and MONTH() on the Date Read column (convert it to a date first: Goodreads writes yyyy/mm/dd), then a summary with COUNTIFS by year and month. The free stats page shows the same numbers without a spreadsheet.
- Does it work in Google Sheets?
- The Pro file is a workbook made for Excel, LibreOffice and Numbers, which evaluate its formulas when it opens. We have not tested importing it into Google Sheets, so we do not promise it.
- What happens to new books I read after the export?
- Type them in new rows of the Library sheet and copy the Year and Month formulas from the row above; the summary sheets count rows up to 1,000 past your last book. Or export again later and build a fresh file.
