What we collect
- Calculations you make on this site run in your browser. We do not store the numbers you enter unless you explicitly ask us to send them to you by email.
- The file you drop: Your Goodreads or StoryGraph file is read by your browser and never uploaded. The fields the stats need (title, author, status, ratings, pages, dates, shelves or tags) are kept in this browser's local storage so the share card and the Pro sheet can use them; the Clear button removes them. Reviews and private notes are not kept.
- Usage statistics via Google Analytics 4 (page views, referrer, country, device type, which calculators you use). Google LLC processes this data for us under its data processing terms; GA4 does not log or store IP addresses. In the EU, UK and Switzerland the analytics cookies are set only after you allow them in the banner.
Legal basis and retention
We process data to provide the service you requested (contract), to run the site (legitimate interest) and, for marketing emails, on your consent. Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion. Aggregate statistics are kept for as long as the site exists.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your data, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Write to hello@readtally.xyz. You can also complain to your national data protection authority.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets the cookies _ga and _ga_* (up to 2 years) to tell returning visitors from new ones. In the EU, UK and Switzerland they are set only after you allow them; elsewhere they are set by default. Your choice, and any licence or settings you save, live in this browser's local storage, which is technical storage needed for the features you use.
