How to see your Goodreads stats by year
Export your library, drop the CSV on the stats page and pick a year: books and pages per month, your rating against the Goodreads average, top authors, shelves and pace, for any year in your history, not only the current one.
Three steps
- Export the library (how).
- Drop goodreads_library_export.csv on the stats page; it stays in your browser.
- Pick the year. The page opens on the current year when it has reads.
What counts in a year
A read counts in the year and month of its Date Read. Books on the read shelf with no date read are counted in the library total but in no year. Pages are summed over the books that have a page count; your average rating skips books you did not rate (My Rating 0); the comparison with the average uses only books that have both ratings. Books a month divides by the months of the year so far, so a year in progress is not penalised for the months still to come.
Worked example
Sample data: public-domain classics with made-up read dates, ratings, average ratings, page counts and shelves. In 2025 the sample has 16 books and 6,952 pages, an average rating of 3.94 and its longest book is The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, 1,276 pages. This is the month table the stats page draws for it:

Frequently asked questions
- Why is my Goodreads Year in Books not accurate?
- Check the dates read. In your export a book counts in a year only through its date read: a book marked read without a date, or with a wrong one, lands in no year or the wrong one, and any total built from it is off by that much. Fix the date on the book page, export again and the stats follow.
- Can I see stats for past years?
- Yes. The year selector lists every year that has a dated read in your export, plus all years together.
- Does a re-read count twice?
- Goodreads keeps only the last date read and a read count, so a re-read counts once, in the year of the last read, and is flagged as a re-read. The StoryGraph keeps every read, so there each read counts in its own year.
- Why are my pages lower than I expected?
- Pages come from the Number of Pages column of the edition on your shelf; some editions (often audiobooks and some ebooks) have none. The stats page says how many books in the year have a page count.
